Your to do list is completed, congratulations! Now what comes next?

To watch as many Christmas movies as you can and if possible Spanish movies or with audios and subtitles in Spanish.

If you are looking for suggestions, look no further. Here I suggest three Spanish Christmas movies very different in between each other but with great Christmas message and where you can see Christmas Spanish traditions.

1. La gran familia (1962)

A married couple Carlos (father and architect) and Mercedes (mother and housewife) have a large family of 15 children and the grandfather who lives with them too.

This movie is a good reflection of Spain in times of the dictator Francisco Franco and it had a great success when it came out in the cinemas.

It shows the day to day in the life of this family and how they organised themselves being that many in such a small house.

The movie is in black and white and uses vocabulary related to Christmas as well as showing some traditions around this time as going to Plaza Mayor in Madrid and buy Nativity figures.

You can watch this movie here:

2. Klaus (2019)

Jasper is a young and selfish postal academy's worst student so his father decided to send him to work on a frozen island above the Artic Circle. He has a mission to stay there for a year and deliver 6000 letters

which it is almost impossible mission as the locals never talk to each other let alone send letters.

When Jasper is about to give up, he meets up a mysterious carpenter who lives alone in a cabin full of toys and a letter from a child which changes everything.

Because "A simple act of kindness always sparks another, even in a frozen, faraway place"

This is a Spanish- American animated movie and received critical acclaim animation for its nomination, story and vocal performances. It was also awarded at the 47th Annie awards for Best Animated Feature, awarded as Best Film at the 73rd British Academy Film Awards and was nominated at the 92nd Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature.

You can watch it on Netflix:

3. A mil kilómetros de la navidad (2021)

It is the week prior the holidays. A man called Raúl hates Christmas and is looking forward to go to the Caribbean during the festivities and run away from this busy period. However, his boss asked him to go on a last minute work trip to a town which is completely obsessed with Christmas.

Will Raúl survive the Christmas spirit from the people of Valverde?

If you watch this movie, you will find some Christmas traditions as Los Santos Inocentes (All Fools Day) celebrated on the 28th of December or the Campanadas in La Puerta del Sol.

It is a comedy which satirise some of our Christmas traditions but at the same time talks about how a person can change their vision of the Christmas being with the right people.

You can watch it on Netflix:

¡Feliz navidad y feliz año! Espero que paséis unas felices fiestas. Si veis alguna de las películas, decirme cuál ha sido vuestra favorita.
